Google Docs AI agents that draft and edit your documents

Brainwrite connects Google Docs to your AI agents so they can create documents from Markdown, read a doc as plain text, search your documents, insert text and tables, replace wording across a doc, update one section at a time, and export a finished doc as a PDF. You sign in with Google in your browser and pick which bots get which Docs tools.

Set up

How to connect Google Docs.

  1. 01

    Open Connected apps

In Brainwrite, choose Connected apps in the sidebar. The official app sets up the connection service for you; there's no key to paste.

  2. 02

    Search for Google Docs

Find Google Docs and choose Connect. You can add more than one account later and label each, such as work or a client.

  3. 03

    Sign in in your browser

Finish Google Docs's own sign-in in your normal browser. The access token stays with the connection service and never enters a bot's prompt.

  4. 04

    Choose which bots get it

In each bot's settings, give it all tools, an exact list, or none. Imported bots start with none, so nothing reaches your account by surprise.

The Apps catalog: Slack, GitHub, Gmail, Google Calendar, Sheets, Docs, Drive, Notion, Linear, Sentry, PostHog and Discord, each with Connect.

FAQ

Brainwrite and Google Docs: questions

How do I connect Google Docs to Brainwrite?

Open Connected apps, search for Google Docs, and select Connect. Label the account, then finish Google's sign-in in the browser window that opens. Back in Brainwrite, bots with a Docs grant can read and write documents. The OAuth token stays with Composio and is never written into prompts.

How do I limit what a bot can do in Google Docs?

In the bot's settings under Connected apps, choose all Google Docs tools, an exact list, or none. A reviewer bot can read and search only. A writer bot can create documents and insert text but leave out delete content range and replace all text if you prefer.

Can a bot share a doc with other people?

Sharing is a Google Drive action, not a Docs one. If you want bots to share files, connect Google Drive and grant its permission tools. Adding a person to a file comes to you as an approval card unless you've allowed it.
